Benjamin is a brave (?) child. He has no fear of dark closets, turbulence, tigers… At a playground recently, Brad was surprised to see him exhibit a little fear when he was crossing a particularly high bridge from one side of the playground to another. But typically, he’s ready to handle it all. Let me give you a few examples…
Every night after his bath, Ben runs to our room to play hide and seek. He runs behind the bed, then into our closets. When we open the door, he shrieks in delight and waves his hands around to scare us. After we play this game in our room a few time, it’s off to climb the stairs to his room so that he and Daddy can hide together in his closet. Then, it’s Mommy’s turn to hide with him. Through the entire experience, he never flinches when the closet goes dark… he just looks up at you with eyes with excitement!
On our recent flight back to Knoxville, Ben took the turbulence totally in stride, sitting happily next to me. When the turbulence was over, he looked at me and said “More?”
Finally, just look at these pictures from his recent trip to the Indianapolis Zoo. We traveled to Indianapolis for a work trip to the conference of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. While I was having an exciting time at the conference, Brad and Ben went to the zoo. They encountered a tiger pacing very close to the spectator area. Whereas the other children backed away, Ben ran right up to the glass! Thank goodness for that glass!
